The anxiety and grief of separation and divorce is huge; determining how to proceed can exacerbate that stress.
Do you contact a lawyer go to court and begin the long and expensive process of navigating the legal system; What about the children, how do you look after their best interest; How do you come to resolution on so many issues without subjecting your children to further conflict?

I can help. I will work to assist you in coming to agreement on a single issue or all of the important issues surrounding your separation. You can begin with your primary initial needs, and come back to finish the rest of the agreement when you are ready.

What is Mediation?

Mediation is an opportunity to discuss how you would like to move forward with your separation with the help of a third party to keep the discussion productive and forward focused. In mediation you and the other party have the ability discuss what is important to you both, and come to a written Memorandum of Understanding (A written document that sets out how you and your spouse have agreed to deal with parenting, support, and/or property) on issues that are in the best interest of your children and the two of you.

Three areas that are of issue in most agreements are:

• Parenting time and Responsibilities
• Child and Spousal support
• Division of Family Assets

The Process:

Prior to the 1st mediation meeting, I will meet with each of the parties separately for an orientation/pre-mediation; these meetings run for 45-60 minutes. The fee for the pre-mediation/orientation is $50.00 each.

The subsequent meetings will be with both parties in mediation. The mediation meetings are scheduled for 2 hours, but may go over if the meeting is progressing productively and the parties agree.

The final meeting will be to review the Memorandum of Understanding and ensure both parties are in agreement. Each party will leave the office with the MOU documents knowing that they have collaborated and reached agreement on the important issues pertaining to their mediation.
