I have been a practicing mediator since 2006, having studied mediation at the Justice Institute of British Columbia, where I obtained certificates in Family Mediation and Third Party Intervention. Between 2006 and 2008 I completed both the Small Claims Mediation Practicum and the Child Protection Mediation Practicum. Prior to my mediation focused education, in 2002 I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Speech Communication from the University of Waterloo. I also received an Associate of Arts in Biblical Studies from Briercrest College in 1998.

Conflicts involving family or the reorganization of a family are complex and cut to the heart of our values, who we are and how we see our selves. I believe that the structure and openness of a mediation process can help all participants, not just resolve their outstanding issues, but also better understand their needs and what their goals are in the long term. My philosophy of mediation is that you are the expert in your conflict and, therefore, you are best equipped to come up with the most suitable solution. I will help you arrive at solutions that work for all parties and are good decisions made with all available information, so that they will stay good decisions in the long run.

I also believe in the transformative power of conflict and have seen again and again how conflict can create opportunities for parties to better understand themselves and to create a future that has depth and richness that they might not have realized under less tumultuous circumstances.
