Brook is trained in motivational interviewing, trauma informed practice, brief action planning, intimate partner violence, adverse childhood experiences and resiliency behaviours, substance use, harm reduction, weight bias, 2SLGBTQI+ awareness: equity and inclusion, and cultural competency.
With a sense of curiosity and desire to understand and appreciate differences, an ability to be flexible and adaptable, Brook is able to offer an open, client centred approach to helping families and communities resolve conflict.
Brook worked as a public health nurse for many years, the last eight of which were with the Nurse Family Partnership Program. This is a program that helps young, vulnerable, first time mothers have a healthy pregnancy, delivery, and learn to parent successfully, as well as set life course goals and live independently.
Brook completed her certification in Conflict Resolution - Family Mediation with the JIBC and completed her internship with Hollyburn Family Services in their Parent Teen Mediation Program. She is an Associate Mediator of the Family Roster of Mediate BC.
Brook is also a Registered Roster Mediator of the Civil Roster of Mediate BC and holds an Associate Certificate in Conflict Coaching.
