Mediator's Comments
For the past ten years, I have been working with community developers, coalitions and non profit organizations whose mandates are to serve and advocate for vulnerable families. I completed my child protection mediation practicum with the Dispute Resolution office in 2008 and have been a member of the Civil Roster of Mediate BC since 2000. My interest in child protection mediation came from working with families who were facing many challenges both economically and socially. I have also worked closely with the population that is homeless and often struggling with addictions which can also be combined with a mental illness. My experiences within my community of practice have taught me about human courage and the resiliency of children and families when they are supported in a positive way. Child Protection mediation is an avenue of support for both the families and the Ministry of Children and Family Development teams. I maintain a private practice in mediation and facilitation.
