MBC Board Recruitment Notice 2022
Posted by mbcstaff
Seeking expressions of interest to serve on Mediate BC’s Board of Directors.
Mediate BC (MBC) is seeking two new volunteers to join its Board of Directors in September 2022.
MBC’s vision is a civil society where mediation and other collaborative dispute resolution processes are trusted and widely accessed by its citizens. We advance this vision by managing rosters of trusted and qualified dispute resolution professionals, public education, and projects supporting access to justice by ensuring access to collaborative dispute resolution processes. We are seeking Board members with a strong interest in expanding collaborative dispute resolution in BC and bringing an equity-seeking lens to that work.
MBC is committed to advancing justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion within our organization and, more broadly, in the way that dispute resolution services are delivered in BC. Therefore, we seek to recruit a diverse Board of Directors that shares this commitment and represents the communities we serve. We encourage expressions of interest from individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences, including Indigenous people, racialized people, queer people, people living with disabilities, and people of marginalized genders. Board members may be located anywhere in BC; however, individuals living in rural and remote areas are particularly encouraged to apply.
We are looking for Board members who bring skills and knowledge in finance, fundraising, and JEDI (justice, equity, diversity, inclusion) work. Our current projects focus on
- Indigenous dispute resolution practices,
- dispute resolution services in non-profit housing and the non-profit sector,
- enhancing service to remote and rural communities,
- growing our mentorship and training for new mediators; and
- expanding and diversifying our funding.
Knowledge and experience in these areas would be valuable.
The Board meets six times per year. In addition, Board members participate in Board committees or working groups. We are a “working board,” which means that Board members contribute to the organization’s operations while also meeting our governance responsibilities.

If you would like to be considered for a position on MBC’s Board of Directors or would like more information, please send your expression of interest or query to Katrina Pacey, Board Secretary, by June 1, 2022.
Katrina is also available to answer any questions you may have or can connect you with the co-chairs of our Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee or Calls to Action Committee if you have questions about MBC’s work in those areas.
