Rolling Stones! What Does This Have To Do With Mediation - Part 2
Posted by Heverton.Oliveira
For my husband's birthday I treated him to the Rolling Stones concert at the Red Robinson Theatre last night.
Okay, it wasn't the "real" Rolling Stones...but it could have been! The band was fantastic. They had obviously worked for hours to adopt all of the style, antics and energy of the real band - with great success in my view. They had the crowd dancing in the aisles and singing along with all the songs - who can ask for more than that?
Near the end of the show they played "You Can't Always Get What You Want" - the 1968 anthem about love, politics and drugs:
"No, you can't always get what you want
No, you can't always get what you want
No, you can't always get what you want
But if you try sometime, you just might find
You get what you need"
So what does this have to do with mediation? While parties in mediation may not always get everything they want, with a skillful mediator who pays attention to the needs and interests of the parties, they may well get what they need!
Great song, great message.
Thank you Rolling Stones!!
