I have been a lawyer since 1982. My practice has focused almost exclusively in the area of civil litigation and dispute resolution, predominantly in the area of family law and wills and estates. My practice is now restricted to mediation and arbitration.

I have conducted dozens of mediation/arbitrations and am a fervent proponent of the process. It allows parties to tailor a process that is efficient and proportional to the their means and the issues in dispute.

I have a strong interest in the area of family law and family law policy, having served on a number of advisory groups as well as being a former governor of the BC Law Foundation, Chair of the Canadian Bar Association National Family Law Section, member of the BC Supreme Court Rules Committee and an executive director of the Canadian Research Institute for Law and the Family.
