Family Mediator Roster Mediator Details

2016
I offer virtual and in person mediation services. I have mediation facilities for mediations held in person. My office is accessible with an elevator.
I am a family law lawyer and mediator practicing on the traditional and unceded territory of the Quw’utsun people also known as the Cowichan Valley where I have lived for almost 27 years. I was 41 when I became a lawyer and I lived a full and varied life before becoming a lawyer. Among other things, I have been a piano teacher, an organic farmer, a barista, and a tree-planter.
I went to law school to practice family law and I saw the benefits of family law mediation early on in my career. I believe that it is almost always best for people to make their own decisions about how their lives will be reorganized when relationships change and my goal as mediator is to facilitate the reaching of agreements using whichever of my range of skills are best suited to the particular situation.

My hourly rate for private mediations is $275. I provide reduced rate services when appropriate. I also accept mediation referrals for clients with Legal Aid British Columbia contracts. If travel is required, I charge mileage and transportation costs (ie ferry costs).
If a mediation is cancelled with 24 hours notice I do not charge a cancellation penalty. I will bill for all time spent on the file up to date and time of cancellation. If mediation is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, I may charge a cancellation penalty of up to one hour of my hourly rate, depending on the circumstances.
