I have been a mediator working with families since 2019, after completing my family mediation training with the Justice Institute of BC. Prior to this, I mediated in small claims court and in restorative justice meetings. I have a PhD in psychology from the University of British Columbia, which has provided me with a strong foundation in the field, particularly regarding mental health. Over the years, I have taught various university-level courses, including conflict resolution.
I believe that three of the most significant benefits of mediation for families experiencing conflict are the ability of parties to control the outcome rather than the courts, the potential for lower conflict/increased trust, and a potentially increased adherence to a mutually created agreement.
My mediation practice helps families figure out ways to move forward with the decisions they need to make, in a collaborative, structured, safe, supportive process, while keeping the best interests of the children (if children are involved) always at the forefront.
