Family Roster Mediator Details

2002
I have a flexible schedule and enjoy working with diverse cultural groups. I try to accommodate the needs of the parties in mediation, including using technology to mediate if the parties are in different geographical areas. I am nonjudgmental, compassionate and committed to trying to help parties, who sometimes experience high emotion, work through their conflict. I coach parties in private meetings to help them prepare for the sometimes difficult conversations that occur in the mediation process. I try to adapt the mediation process and guide the parties to resolution.
I graduated from UBC with degrees in Social Work and Law and have been called to the Bars of Ontario and British Columbia. I have over 25 years of combined training and professional experience in law and social work. I started mediating in 2002, including serving two years as a Family Justice Counselor. I am a member of the Family and Civil Rosters, the Child Protection Roster and I am an accredited Family Law Mediator and Arbitrator with the Law Society of BC. I recently completed training from Royal Roads University for Online mediation, such as videoconferencing.

I bring a varied mix of expertise and resolution techniques to my mediation practice. I have mediation experience in a wide range of disputes. My goal is to assist participants move through their conflict and ultimately help them reach agreement. I enjoy working with lawyers as problem solvers in the process as well as with parties directly. I am flexible in my approach and enjoy working with people from diverse cultures.

In addition to my private practice, I am a consultant with clients such as Mediate BC., Legal Services Society and the Province of British Columbia. I am a published writer and have taught at the post-secondary level. I am interested in Dispute Resolution Systems Design and inter-cultural issues in conflict resolution. I am on the Board of Directors for the North Shore Multicultural Society.
