Mediation Consultation, Pro Bono

After 30 years experience in workplace and labour matters, I have embraced mediation as the preferred way to resolve these issues in a meaningful and lasting way. My practice involves mediation, negotiation, investigation and arbitration.

I have received conflict resolution training from professors at Cornell and Harvard as well as completed certificates in Conflict Resolution and Mediation from the Justice Institute of BC. I have completed arbitration training from the BC Arbitration and Mediation Institute and am a member of the Civil Roster of Mediate BC.

MEDIATION - I have mediated disputes in Small Claims Court (7.2 and 7.4), the BBB, and also for several Federal Government Departments. I am on the BC International Commercial Arbitration Centre (BCICAC) roster. I have participated in expedited mediation with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service and Discriminatory Action complaints for WorkSafe.

ARBITRATION - I have been appointed to arbitrate unjust dismissal, wage recovery and collective agreement interpretation issues under the Canada Labour Code, ICBC Total Loss disputes, Strata and Property Assessment Reviews as well as complaints before the Health Professions Review Board. I am also on arbitration rosters for the Canadian Transportation Agency and the Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan (CAMVAP).

ADMINISTRATIVE BOARDS - I have Chaired hearings for the Property Assessment Review Panels in Delta and Richmond, the Employment and Assistance Appeals Tribunal the Health Professions Review Board, the Transportation Appeals Tribunal of Canada and have conducted mediations for the Public Service Labour Relations and Employment Board.

I have spoken at UBC and to the Association of Labour Relations Agencies on the impact of culture and religion on conflict resolution.

I have served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Science and Technology Growth Fund and on the Executive of the Canadian Air Traffic Control Association, as well as a member of the NAV CANADA Advisory Committee which advises on the safety and delivery of air traffic services. I have been a member of the National Joint Council of the Public Service sitting as a panel to decide collective agreement grievance matters.

My main areas of interest are Transportation, Employment, Workplace, Human Rights, Administrative Law and General Civil areas such as Commercial, Insurance, Consumer and Strata disputes.
