Civil Mediator Roster Mediator Details

2014
I have a depth of experience in a variety of legal areas and legal roles. I hold designations from the Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation, and the ADR Institute of BC (Chartered Mediator).
I was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1991, and started conducting mediations in 2014 when I was appointed to the BC Human Rights Tribunal. Prior to this, I worked in Vancouver as an in-house legal counsel, and then in Victoria in private practice. During a four year sabbatical in China, I taught law at Beijing Foreign Studies University.

My law practice now focuses on conflict resolution including mediation, adjudication and workplace investigation. I am experienced in resolving complex cases involving controversial issues, vulnerable parties, and considerable conflict. I am trained in trauma-informed practice and non-violent communication, and use these tools to ensure respectful and productive discussions towards settling differences across a variety of contexts. My goal in mediation is to help parties achieve fair, comprehensive and meaningful solutions that satisfy their interests and avoid the stress and expense of litigation proceedings.

My mediation services encompass human rights, employment, and commercial and civil litigation issues.
