Each of us resolves disputes, large and small, regularly. But every now and again, something that feels insurmountable arises. If you find yourself caught in a dispute and wondering why the other side doesn't understand the reasonableness of your point of view, then mediation might be right for you.

I have years of experience as a mediator and as a mediator-trainer. I feel that mediation is one of the things that I do best. My goal is not to simply engage you in a "process", but to help you clearly communicate your perspective in a way that the other participants understand and to help you understand theirs. This is the place where solutions arise. This is where the "magic" of mediation happens.

I have found that, time and time again, people who want to resolve their disputes, in a way that makes sense to them, become able to do so through mediation. You don't have to agree with someone else's point of view in order to resolve a dispute. You just have to understand it. My role is to help you get there.

Mediation is not about compromise. It's about getting what makes sense, after balancing the strengths and weaknesses of each perspective. I will never tell you what to do, but I will help you to think things through so that your decisions feel right. I will adapt my process to reflect your needs. Sometimes that means being in the same room as the "other side". Sometimes, it doesn't. Sometimes that means a two-hour mediation. Sometimes, it takes longer. But you will likely feel that mediation is more useful and much better than you ever thought it could be.

Mediation isn't always easy. But, if you are interested in maintaining control over the outcome, reducing the costs (both monetary and emotional) of battle, and if you are willing to engage in a safe and respectful conversation, then I know how to help you move towards your goals.
