I have worked in the area of alternative dispute resolution in the public and private sector since 1992. I have been an arbitrator or decision maker in a variety of areas including residential tenancies, personal injury, employment, forestry, sports, human rights and property assessment.

I was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1992, having previously been called to the Bars of Alberta and the Northwest Territories in 1986. I obtained my Chartered Arbitrator designation from the ADR Institute of Canada in 1994. I have been trained as a mediator and am a member of Mediate BC.

I conduct harassment investigations and have provided advice on conflict of interest and ethical issues for individuals in government and corporations. I am currently a member of the Ethics Committee for an international sports organization.

Prior to becoming an adjudicator, I was Constitutional Counsel for the Government of the Northwest Territories, and in private practise in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

I received my Bachelor of Arts (political science major) and LL.B. from the University of Calgary. I also have a Certificate from the International Institute of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France, a diploma in International Economic Law from the University of Helsinki, and have taken LL.M. courses at Cornell University’s Summer Institute of International & Comparative Law in Paris.

I am currently on the roster of arbitrators and mediators for the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada and the International Court of Arbitration for Sport, and was a member of the ad hoc Court at the 2016 Rio and 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics.

I am an adjudicator for the Indian Residential Schools Adjudication Secretariat and the Yukon and Nunatsiavut Dispute Resolution Boards. I am also an adjudicator University of Victoria Discrimination and Harassment Policy Roster and a Grievance Arbitrator, unjust dismissal adjudicator and wage recovery referee under the Canada Labour Code. I am also a member of the British Columbia Employment Standards Tribunal.

I am also a mediator on the Canadian Human Rights Commission Roster of ADR specialists with experience in aboriginal communities and a fee mediator with the Law Society of British Columbia.

    My hourly rate decreases if parties wish to engage me for longer periods of time. I am also able to offer parties lower rates if they are unable to afford the higher fee.
    I charge my full hourly rate if the mediation is cancelled less than 48 hours before the mediation is set to start, and one half the hourly rate if it is cancelled less than five days before the mediation is set to start.
