Civil Roster Mediator Details

1995
I take a restorative approach to workplace and organizational conflict.
I trained and practiced as a lawyer for over 30 years, and mediated many employment, family and estate mediations. For many years I practiced civil litigation including labour and employment law, and became a mediator and adjudicator of collective agreement and harassment disputes. Recently I have focused my mediation practice on workplace and organizational conflict through Restorative Solutions - mediating complex conflicts and consulting with large organizations on conflict management system design. I have an MA in Political Science and have worked extensively in a public policy/government context, especially in relation to First Nations. I was a Commissioner for Canada's first Indian Residential School Truth and Reconciliation Commission and an adjudicator of sexual and physical abuse claims arising from the residential school experience. I was Chair of the Panel that decided on compensation for sexual abuse at the Jericho Hill School for the Deaf and Blind. I have extensive experience mediating historic sexual abuse claims. I am currently working on developing a Transform the Family Justice System Collaborative under the auspices of Access to Justice BC, a network of BC Justice system organizations, headed by the Chief Justice of BC.
