Civil Roster Mediator Details

As a third party facilitator my practice is focused primarily of civil litigation and workplace disputes. I have learned firsthand to appreciate the benefits of a facilitated resolution process and this in turn drives my passion to work as a third party facilitator.
I have more than twenty-five years of experience as a practicing lawyer in the areas of professional negligence, professional regulatory work including workplace disputes, administrative law, insurance, major property loss subrogation litigation, and personal injury.
I am distinguished by my deep experience of the health sector and corresponding understanding of the unique challenges faced by professionals working in this industry. My fluency in understanding medical legal issues also equips me well for mediating personal injury disputes of all levels of complexity.
I am accustomed to acting in the interest of the public on significant issues. I am Chair of the National Canadian Bar Association (CBA) End-of-Life Working Group convened to study the legal and ethical issues surrounding end of life decisions. On May 10, 2016, on behalf of the CBA, I presented before the Senate Standing Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs regarding Bill C-14, the proposed legislation to address MAID (medical assistance in dying). In addition, I am an Honorary Executive Member of the CBA National Health Law Section having been an Officer and Executive Member since 2007. I also, with honour, hold the position as a member of the legal advisory committee to the Board of Directors of Dying with Dignity Canada.
