Family Roster Mediation Details
I have developed significant skills and experience in high net worth property division, including corporate and commercial assets and real property. My extensive court experience in over 20 years of litigating property division and support gives me credibility as a mediator and the ability to bring an evaluative approach to ensure that all parties and their counsel understand the law and its application to the facts.

Services Offered:

- I mediate two party and multi-party disputes.

- I offer co-mediation with Emerald Chhina, who is fluent in Punjabi and Hindi.

- My Langley offices can accommodate shuttle mediation, with the parties in different rooms and I am willing to travel elsewhere to accommodate the parties and their counsel. Shuttle mediation ensures that all parties have the ability to communicate freely with their counsel and the mediator.

$400 - $500 / hour

Daily Rate of $3,500.00 plus taxes and disbursements. After 5:00 p.m. my hourly rate of $400.00 applies. I require a deposit in advance in the amount of $4,000.00 14 days in advance of the mediation date.

Where there is co-mediation the daily rate is $4,000.00 plus taxes and disbursements. The after 5:00 p.m. hourly rate for co-mediation is $500.00 per hour.

All fees and disbursements are charged to and the responsibility of counsel. I do not bill the clients directly.

Cancellation: There is no cancellation fee if the mediation is cancelled 10 days prior to the scheduled date and not re-scheduled, except that if any disbursements have been incurred those are payable forthwith. If the mediation is cancelled in less than ten days, and not re-scheduled, the cancellation fee is $1,000.00.

2014

Prior to law school, I was employed in banking and as legal support staff both in the Provincial Court of British Columbia and in several law firms as a freelance paralegal.

In 1995 I founded and grew a multi-disciplinary firm, which now consists of 5 lawyers and 10 support staff. The firm’s roots were in family law and we have expanded to now include corporate, commercial, real estate transactions, wills, estate planning, estates and general litigation.

I have been assisting my clients to resolve their disputes out of court since commencing practice. I have gained extensive experience in property division and support involving high net worth parties and closely held corporate property. I am committed to providing a safe environment for parties to communicate and to assist parties to achieve settlements that meet their needs, preserve their family property, including corporate property and which are fair to all parties now and in the future. I approach the task in an organized and evaluative manner while striving to ensure that the parties and their counsel understand their respective rights, duties and obligations to each other and more importantly to their children. I strive to ensure that settlements meet the legal standards and that they are fair, reasonable and enforceable. I prefer that the parties have their counsel present during mediation. The goal is to ensure that the parties not only settle all matters in dispute and that settlement documentation, such as a Consent Order, Separation Agreement or Minutes of Settlement are prepared and executed under independent legal advice.

I also serve beverages, including water, tea, coffee, breakfast, catered lunch and an afternoon snack. Please make us aware of any special dietary requirements at the time of scheduling your mediation.

Outside of mediating, arbitrating and practising law, I am passionate about my professional organizations and my local community. I have served as an elected member of the Provincial Council of the Canadian Bar Association for 6 years, a member of the Board of Governors of Kwantlen Polytechnic University for 6 years, the Langley Family Services Society for 7 years, the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia for 3 years, the Federal and Provincial Liberal Parties executive in Langley for 10 years; and am currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Langley Memorial Hospital Association, Vice-Chair of the Canadian Museum of Flight and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Motor Vehicle Sales Authority of British Columbia. I enjoy playing golf and driving fast, exotic motor vehicles.
