I have been practicing law since 1982. My practice has focused almost exclusively in the area of civil litigation and dispute resolution, predominantly in family law. I am a partner in the firm of Waddell Raponi LLP which was founded in 1987.

Since beginning my practice as a mediator, I have mediated hundreds of disputes in many areas of law, but predominantly in the family law area.

I am also qualified as a Family Law Arbitrator and am able to offer Mediation/Arbitration in appropriate cases. This process allows the parties to design a process that addresses the specific circumstances of their case and provides them the assurance of a resolution to their disputes.

I have a strong interest in the area of family law and family law policy. My work has included all aspects of family law and for many years I acted as Child Advocate appointed by the Attorney General and am qualified to as a member of the Hear the Child roster. As well, I am a member of the Victoria Collaborative Family Law Group. I have served on the executive of the Canadian Bar Association National Family Law Section, serving as its Chair in 1999/2000. I have taught courses as a sessional instructor at the University of Victoria Law School and regularly contribute to courses and publications in the area of continuing professional development.

I was a governor of the British Columbia Law Foundation from 2011-2016 and am an executive director of the Canadian Research Institute for Law and the Family.

I was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2009
