Mediator's Comments
I have been practising law since 1982. My practice has focused almost exclusively in the area of civil litigation, predominantly in family law. I am a partner in the firm Waddell Raponi which was founded in 1987. I have practised as a family law mediator since 1994 and have experience in various forms of family mediation, including lawyer-assisted mediations. I have a strong interest in the area of family law and family law policy. My work has included all aspects of family law and for many years I acted as Child Advocate appointed by the Attorney General. I am a member of the Victoria Collaborative Family Law Group. From 1995 to 2001, I was on the executive of the Canadian Bar Association National Family Law Section, serving as its Chair in 1999/2000. In this capacity, I was a member of a number of committees which made submissions to parliamentary committees studying issues of custody, access and child support. I also have a strong interest in continuing legal education, having served as a sessional instructor at the University of Victoria Law School and as a contributor to family law courses and publications for the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia. I was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2009.
